DCJS Firearms Instructor Course

June 15 – 26, 2020 Monday through Friday.
Generally 0800 – 1600 however there are night fire dates. Registrants will be advised via email of “shoot off” date, directions to range and gear/ammunition requirements .
Pre-requisites: Three years as a sworn Law Enforcement Officer and possession of New York State DCJS General Topics Instructor Certification. Note: Students may attend the Firearms Instructor Course without having previously completed Instructor Development, however, Firearms certification will not be issued until both courses are completed.
There will be a pre-qualification “shoot off” for all persons registering for this course. Students who do not pass the pre-qualification, will be given the opportunity to attempt the qualification on the first day of the course, provided they are within 10 points of qualification during the first attempt. Failure to qualify on the second attempt will lead to disqualification.
Registrants will receive an email with information on the pre-qualification date and ammunition requirements for the Firearms Instructor Course. Scoring and ammunition requirements for the pre-qualification are in attached document.
Course is free for Police Chiefs’ Association of Orange County member agencies, $750 for non-member agencies.
